Tamping is one of the most important front-end processes of coffee extraction. It creates a tight, compact coffee puck which in turn eliminates air pockets within the ground puck, creating a dense environment in it, thus allowing the water from the group head to flow through the coffee bed more evenly. With a well-distributed water flow through an evenly pressed coffee bed, you are one step closer in getting that final desired shot from the group head. INSTRUCTIONS

Place the tamper flat on top of your freshly ground coffee of the portafilter.
Ensure the rim of your tamper rest nicely around the perimeter of your portafilter.
Press down with one hand using the handle to compress the coffee.
Apply around 12-13 Kilos of firm pressure.
Do a last polishing of the coffee bed in the portafilter by rotating the tamper gently clockwise / counter-clockwise (tamper twisting).
Tamper twist action should not be done excessively. Just a slight one-clean move will do.
