Sumatra is an island situated west of Java. This Indonesian island is known for its rugged terrain, amazing wildlife and unpredictable, active volcanoes.
With the many volcanoes located in Sumatra, one could not imagine the quality of the coffee plants that thrive on the rich, mineral-filled volcanic soils, which are indeed ideal grounds for these coffee fruits.
Our Sumatra 26oC is also known as Sumatra Mandheling coffee. It is grown on the lofty volcanic slopes of Mount Leuser near the port of Padang, with resulting crop that carries a concentrated flavour and a full body.
You will be able to savour a chocolaty, earthy flavour. The whiff of woody, nut-like aroma will definitely freshen up one’s day!

Delivered to my doorstep two days after I ordered, the beans were delivered as-fresh-as-it-gets as they were roasted the day before delivery. Makes naturally sweet and smooth espresso with a rich and complex taste. Low in acidity just the way I like my espresso. Somewhat surprisingly these beans produced great crema too, which I did not expect since these are Arabica beans. I tried mixing some of it with about 10% freshly roasted Java Robusta beans, but I didn’t notice much of a difference, except a slightly more bitter aftertaste. These beans are great as they are!
I only wish they were slightly more affordable as I typically brew 6-7 cups of espresso each day. So a pack only last about two days for me, and $3.3k ($17.90 / (250g / (18g * 7 cups)) * 365 days) is a bit more than I’m willing to spend on coffee beans every year. :)
