GUATEMALA 18oC

Our Antigua beans come from Guatemala, a Central American country south of Mexico. It is an intriguing, fascinating country, a cradle to volcanoes, rainforests and ancient Mayan sites. Antigua itself is well known for its native coffee beans. Coffee became Antigua’s most important crop after 1856, and its importance grew especially in 1871 when it emerged as the main pillar of Guatemala’s economy.

Coffee beans from Antigua are grown mostly at an altitude of 1500 to 1700m. The fact that Antigua is situated within surroundings of volcanoes, their soils unquestionably provide a channel to lock in moisture for the beans grown there. With the fertile soils and moderate rainfall at this region, the general trait and disposition of the coffees are smooth and sweet.

Our Antigua Bucolic beans, after roasting, have an innate smoky, dark chocolatey flavour. It is of low acidity, coffee extracted has a defined crema, with a very slight tinge of acidity at first taste on the palate. Basically, with optimal extraction, the coffee will have a gliding fluidity, and will exude a visually aesthetic crema, and a pleasing musky sapor.
